The Kimberton Fair Royalty Program gives young women an opportunity to promote the fair, become more active in the community, make new friends, and learn and practice skills in communication in a positive atmosphere. We offer programs for Little Miss (ages 8-11), Junior Miss (ages 12-15), and Fair Queen (ages 16-20) *. Activities are scheduled throughout the year to learn and understand more about our Chester County agriculture heritage and future.

FAIR ROYALTY TRAVELS TO ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Kimberton Fair Queen Melissa visited over 115 first grade students at Manavon Elementary School to read the PA Friends of Agriculture Foundation's 2024 Ag Literacy Week book - Anywhere Farm. This book helps young learners understand that a farm can be anywhere and something as simple as a single seed can help you begin!

Ag Literacy Week was held March 18 through March 22. Many volunteers from communities across the state visited classrooms and other student groups to read the book and talk about local farming. Nearly 2,000 books were presented in classrooms in Pennsylvania this year.

Ag Literacy Week connects volunteers from the agricultural community to local classrooms to share the story of agriculture. Readers who participate in Ag Literacy Week have the opportunity to talk about farming and agriculture through the book they read as well as sharing their own story about farming, agriculture programs they are involved with or their connections to agriculture.

After their reading events, the community members donate the book and educational activities to the classroom to be used throughout the year and with future classes.

The Manavon students enjoyed reading with Queen Melissa and afterwards took part in a seed planting activity to start their own Anywhere Farm!

FAIR ROYALTY VISITS LOCAL TURKEY FARM

We are thankful to Howe Turkey Farm for giving our Fair Royalty a tour of their local farm-to-table operation. They are a proud third-generation family farm located in Downingtown, Chester County dedicated solely to raising over 4,500 turkeys from July through November. They work morning ‘til night making sure the turkeys are healthy and well-cared for. In their words, “When you taste our turkey, you're tasting the heart of our farm – the heart of a farmer's life.” Check out their website to learn more about how this family farm’s story.

The Royalty Program focuses on promoting Kimberton Community Fair and local agriculture. It provides each participant the opportunity to build and enhance her personal development including confidence, poise, presentation and public speaking skills, and knowledge about their community and Chester County's $600 million-dollar agricultural industries.
