2009 JudgesSusan Lacy is a Certified Toastmaster and Treasurer with the Chester County Toastmasters Club. Susan and her husband, Bruce, have lived in Chester County for over 20 years. Bruce grew up on Seven Stars Road in Kimberton and they have enjoyed many Fairs together. Susan has an MBA from Villanova University as well as a BS in Forestry from Colorado State and an MS in Forest Management from the University of New Hampshire . Both CSU and UNH have strong agriculture programs that provided Susan with some great experiences. After working as a forester with the USDA Forest Service for 18 years, Susan is now a Financial Advisor with First Financial Group in Bala Cynwyd. She is bringing her two professional fields together by helping private forest landowners develop financial and estate plans that will allow them to keep the land as forests for current and future generations. Patricia (Patti) Colby grew up on a farm in southeastern Iowa , where she was active in 4-H with her award winning Corriedale sheep. After she and her husband moved to Pennsylvania , Patti became a volunteer with the Montgomery County 4-H program. In addition to teaching sewing, she is the club leader for the Creamery Crafters 4-H Club, chairs the annual Fabric Sale during the 4-H fair, is a member of the Montgomery County Farm, Home and 4-H Foundation, and is member of the Regional and State Fashion Revue Committees. Previously in her professional life, Patti was a principal at Vanguard in Malvern. Shelly Shaffer is married and has a 21-year old daughter. She and her husband reside in Greentown , PA , near Lake Wallenpaupack in the heart of the Pocono Mountains . Shelly is the owner operator of Shear Obsessions, her own Beauty Salon, for the past 24 years. Shelly was an active member of the Greene-Dreher-Sterling Fair for 25 years. She was the Recording Secretary for 11 of those years. She was very involved in many facets of the Fair, some of which include; 14 years as Fair Queen Coordinator, 12 years as Baby Pageant Coordinator, and 11 years as Demolition Derby Coordinator. Shelly, for the past 6 years, is one of the PA State Fair Queen Program Coordinators along with Karen Dobson. Shelly also had the opportunity to judge the Maryland State Queen Pageant in 2002. Kelly Spittler is a Technical Manager for Weston Solutions, Inc., and environmental restoration company, and also a member of the Chemical Technology Program Advisory Committee for the Community College of Philadelphia . Ms. Spittler professional experience includes authorship of numerous Quality Assurance Project Plans and Field Sampling Plans for clients, such as the US Environmental Protection Agency, US Army Corp of Engineers, Air Force Center for Environmental Excellence, in addition to many state and local regulatory agencies. Her roles on the advisory committee consist of; assisting the college in identifying training needs and changing market conditions, supporting program evaluation efforts, identifying resources or speakers for special events, and identifying cooperative education experiences of current students. Ms. Spittler is an active member of the American Chemical Society, a returning judge for the Kimberton Fair Queen, and a busy mother of three children |
